Elevating Thrills at Knott's Berry Farm with Automated Fog Effects
Knott's Berry Farm, a beloved amusement park known for its thrilling rides and immersive attractions, recently partnered with Master FX to elevate the excitement of two of its iconic rides: Jaguar and Montezooma's Revenge. The creative team at Knott's Berry Farm had a vision to add an extra layer of thrill and mystery, and Master FX was the perfect partner to bring this vision to life.
The goal was to integrate automated fog effects that would trigger at specific points during the rides, enhancing the overall experience for riders. Master FX took on this challenge with their expertise in special effects and innovative engineering.
To achieve this, Master FX installed their advanced Atlas Upshot fog generators in inconspicuous locations along the rides. These fog machines are controlled by sensors with a set delay, ensuring precise timing. As the rides pass through tunnels, riders are suddenly enveloped in a dramatic blast of fog, creating a thrilling and immersive atmosphere.
One of the significant challenges of this project was the maintenance of the fog machines, as they were installed in hard-to-reach places. Refilling fog fluid manually would be tedious and impractical. Master FX addressed this issue by developing a customized fluid distribution system capable of reaching lengths of up to 200 feet. This innovative system pumps fog fluid from multiple remote 55-gallon drums directly to the fog machines.
To ensure the reliability and safety of the system, low fluid sensors were incorporated. These sensors help prolong the life of the machines by preventing them from running dry, thereby reducing maintenance needs and ensuring a consistent fog effect.
The automated fog effects have transformed the Jaguar and Montezooma's Revenge rides, providing an immersive experience that is unlike most roller coasters. Riders are thrilled not just by the speed and twists of the rides, but also by the unexpected and dramatic fog effects that add a new dimension of excitement.
With this project, Master FX has once again demonstrated their ability to merge creativity with technical prowess, enhancing the magic and thrill of amusement park experiences.
